In 1939 Germany was the strongest economic power in Europe. England and France with their colonial empires dominated the world. The U.S. was not a super power. Six year later the world changed dramatically because of World War II. Germany was split in two countries. Eastern Europe became part of the Soviet bloc. Socialism became a dominant force with the Chinese revolution. The U.S. became a superpower. The colonial empires crumbled.<\/p>\n
