Monday May 8, I had an interesting discussion at the University of Pretoria about what it means to decolonize a discipline. My dear friend Stephen Small joined me as a co-lecturer and brought in his experience as a professor of African-American studies at the University of California Berkeley. The event was organized by Prof. Adekeye Adebajo. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for the Advancement of Scholarship at the University of Pretoria. The event was chaired by Dr. Tafadzwe Mushonga, who is working on extractivism an environment.
