June 12: The Netherlands – Amsterdam: The rise of the extreme right in Netherlands and Europe

The extreme nationalist right is gaining strength. This was evident from the results of last November’s elections for the House of Representatives, with the PVV’s large election win – and overall a further shift to the right.

On June 6, the polls will go to the polls again – this time for the composition of the European Parliament. Even then, major electoral gains for extreme right-wing parties are expected across Europe.

Partly with a view to the latter, the European Parliament quickly adopted the so-called Migration Pact, which represents a serious deterioration in the position of asylum seekers and other migrants.

These are worrying developments for the fight against discrimination and racism.

On the increasing strength of the extreme nationalist right in the Netherlands and in Europe, and on the elaboration of the Migration Pact, Comité 21 Maart is organizing a Political Café on March 21 with two expert speakers:

Sandew Hira will talk about the rise of the extreme nationalist right.

Savannah Koolen from HERE TO SUPPORT and Roos Ykema from
MIGREAT will both speak about the EU Migration & Asylum Pact.
