On February 22, Anton de Kom’s birthday, Sandew Hira will give a lecture on the life and work of Anton de Kom. Hira is the author of the book “Van Priary tot en met De Kom – een dekoloniale geschiedenis van het verzet tegen het kolonialisme in Suriname 1630-1940”.
The lecture will cover the following topics:
- De Kom’s biography.
- His vision on decolonization
- His political and organizational work in Suriname
- His political and organizational work in the Netherlands
- His place in and significance for the historiography and history of Suriname.
